Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

This event is exclusively offered to Friends of QPAC members.

Before we open the doors to the public, Friends of QPAC have the exclusive opportunity to join a guided behind the scenes tour and be among the very first to experience this architectural marvel and state-of-the-art venue.

Glasshouse Theatre, designed by Brisbane-based architects Blight Rayner in partnership with Oslo’s Snøhetta, stands as a striking new landmark defined by its sweeping curved glass façade. Its fluid form echoes the movement of the nearby Brisbane River and subtly evokes the graceful drape of stage curtains.

Every material choice within the theatre draws inspiration from Queensland’s distinctive character. Locally sourced grey Ironbark timber anchors the space, while the green auditorium carpet reflects the lushness of the state’s rainforests. Gold-toned foyer carpet and sand-coloured precast concrete bring in the warmth and texture of Queensland’s beaches.

Throughout the visit, guides will illuminate the artistic vision behind the building and the creative journey that shaped this remarkable new venue. Numbers for the guided tours are limited.
