Overview

Pop the cork on a night of heart and high heels

Celebrate the season with Sweet Charity – the bold, brassy and utterly irresistible musical that dances straight into your heart.

Prospero Arts and QPAC bring Neil Simon’s hilarious and heartfelt story to life in a dazzling concert version directed and choreographed by Cameron Mitchell, starring musical theatre sensation Loren Hunter (SIX The Musical, The Lovers) as the ever-hopeful Charity Hope Valentine – the unluckiest romantic in New York City.

Joining her is a glittering cast of stage favourite including Simon Burke, Jake Speer, Sean Sinclair and Angelina Thomson, backed by a brilliant 16-piece on-stage band led by Michael Tyack.

With its groovy 1960s New York energy, Bob Fosse flair and unforgettable hits including “Big Spender”, “Rhythm of Life” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, Sweet Charity reminds us that hope – and a little sparkle – never go out of style.

Fall in love with Sweet Charity for six performances only at QPAC’s Concert Hall this December.

  • A hit-packed score by Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields, and a joke-packed book by Neil Simon.
    The New York Times
  • Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields’ terrific songs ... have snappy wit, a big heart and just the right sprinkling of sentimentality, socked across by a muscular orchestra.
    Variety
  • A hymn to female resilience ... There is something cheering about the cockeyed optimism of Charity, who seeks to escape her grim life as a New York taxi dancer where all you do is ‘defend yourself to music,’ and Coleman’s score brims with good tunes.
    The Guardian
