Overview

Enter the magical world of Ballet Theatre Queensland’s new production of The Sleeping Beauty. Based on the Charles Perrault fairy tale about the triumph of good over evil, this beautiful ballet is set to the famous music of Tchaikovsky, played live by the Cadenza Chamber Players.

Magnificent sets and costumes will help transport audiences both young and old to the palace of Princess Aurora, where the six royal fairies, including the kindly Lilac Fairy and the wicked fairy Carabosse weave their magic.

On her 16th birthday, Princess Aurora pricks her finger on the thorn of a rose, falling under a spell cast by the wicked fairy Carabosse. After sleeping for 100 years, she is finally woken by a tender kiss from a handsome prince.

Staged by Artistic Director Clare Morehen, showcasing the talents of Queensland’s finest young dancers and the wonderful musicians of the Cadenza Chamber Players, The Sleeping Beauty will delight audiences of all ages.
