Enviro-Beats is part of QPAC's Artists in Classrooms initiative, within the Creative Learning Program. Developed to extend the learning beyond the stage, these workshops are designed to be delivered in-school and provide inspiring, curriculum-linked experiences to your students.

Junkyard Beats are going to ... Transform Trash into Musical Treasure.
Turn rubbish into rhythm in the high-energy Enviro-Beats Workshop with the Junkyard Beats team. This hands-on experience fuses music, creativity, and environmental awareness as students transform everyday recycled materials into powerful percussion instruments.
Through collaborative music-making, participants build rhythm and performance skills while developing teamwork, confidence, and a deeper understanding of sustainability. Playful, interactive, and unforgettable, Enviro-Beats reimagines environmental education as an exciting creative adventure where nothing goes to waste.

Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
- Learn body percussion basics and group rhythm techniques.
- Explore beat-making using buckets, broomsticks, plastic tubs, PVC pipes, and other recycled items.
- Collaborate in group rhythm games that boost confidence, listening skills, and creativity.
- Develop a deeper appreciation for sustainability by transforming waste materials into musical instruments.

Teaching Artists
Oded Prior
Oded Prior's rhythmical journey began at 13, when he started experimenting with objects around his home. This curiosity led him to train in body percussion, junk percussion, hip-hop dance, and traditional drumming. Oded founded Junkyard Beats in 2015, a group that merges his love for music with environmental consciousness.
Through Junkyard Beats, Oded has become a global ambassador for creative recycling and rhythm. His high-energy performances and innovative school programs have toured extensively across Australia, Europe, South America, and beyond.
His TEDx talk on his rhythmic journey has further solidified his reputation as a pioneer in the fusion of music, movement, and environmental awareness.
Tania Gould
Tania Gould has been dancing for over 15 years and has performed in several shows both nationally and internationally and has toured extensively with Junkyard Beats across Australia and China.
Tania works as a professional educator working at a number of training facilities across Sydney including Performing Arts Hornsby, PAWS Studio Penrith and Static Dance Studios Glendenning. She is experienced and proficient at facilitating workshops for children and in corporate settings.
Tania has been an integral team member of The Box Show since 2022 and specialises in theatre performance, school shows, community engagements, and corporate events.
Lucas Nadin
Lucas Nadin is a Brazilian performer and musician who is passionate for creating change and teaching others to express themselves through different art modalities.
Lucas completed his teaching degree in Performing Arts at FPA (Faculade Paulista de Artes) in São Paulo in Brazil. He has also completed a Diploma in Theatre and Televisions as Escola de Atores Wolf Maya. His training also spans percussion and guitar, drama and dance, ballroom, and yoga teaching.
Lucas has been a vital team member of Junkyard Beats since 2022 and has worked with The Box Show at key performances such as Vivid Festival and Adelaide Fringe Festival, national theatre touring and cruise line shows.
Rose Callaghan
Rose Callaghan is an Australia drummer, percussionist, and vocalist who displays a nuanced and versatile approach to her craft. Her experience spans the use of multi-percussion setups, a diverse range of traditional world percussion, body percussion, standard drum kit, lead vocals, and backing vocals. Rose has played over 30 Festivals and numerous tours both in Australia and overseas. She is both a captivating performer and a dynamic facilitator in workshop and education settings.
Rose has toured with Rhythm Hunters on multiple Australian tours and to Indonesia and Malaysia. She has also toured with Louise Adams and Junkyard Beats.
Her extensive festival touring history includes performances such as Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival Adelaide Fringe Festival, Caloundra Music Fest, Bendigo Blues Fest, Splendour in the Grass and many more.
