Overview

Where tradition meets transformation

Indulge in an evening where the familiar and unexpected dance side by side. Brahms’ radiant Sextet in G major, reimagined for chamber orchestra, sings with warmth and longing. Ethel Smith’s sparkling Scherzo offers wit and brilliance, while bassist Marian Heckenberg shines in Michael Patterson’s evocative Concertino – a unique chance to hear this majestic instrument up close. Bookending the program is Carl Vine’s Smith’s Alchemy, a fusion of rhythm and colour. This is Camerata at its unconducted best: vibrant, intimate, and full of passion.
