Overview

Featuring his flamenco ensemble and choirs from Voices of Birralee

A profound musical odyssey of passion and redemption, the Australian premiere of Paco Peña – Requiem for the Earth celebrates our glorious planet while issuing a stark warning: time is running out and we must act now to save the Earth.

Featuring his world-class eight-piece flamenco ensemble from Spain alongside the breathtaking choral power of the Voices of Birralee, legendary flamenco guitarist Paco Peña offers a stunning performance, intricately merging the solemnity of a traditional Requiem with the vibrant energy of flamenco.

In the visceral world of flamenco, joy and sorrow – like hope and despair – constantly intermingle. That amalgam of apparent opposites is the essence of Requiem for the Earth. Paco Peña weaves joy with sorrow while reflecting on humanity's impact on nature.

With lyrics in Spanish and Latin, don’t miss this hopeful call to action, urging us to protect our world.

  • The thundering standing ovation at the conclusion of Peña’s monumental achievement, Requiem for the Earth generated a resonating reprise of one of its dualistic sections by the guitarist and his talented accompanists.
