Overview
Dead Puppet Society's Digital Manipulation workshop has been designed to provide a meaningful arts experience for students and educators. In this unique program, participants are guided through a series of exercises using common household/classroom materials to gain skills in puppetry manipulation and performance that are fundamental to visual theatre practice.
This workshop demystifies the incredibly versatile art form of puppetry and arms participants with the basic skills to create characters and devise visual stories. In a series of exercises focusing on the fundamental manipulation skills, participants will gain a grounding in Dead Puppet Society's iconic puppetry work. Workshop content includes: Create a character design with a consideration of form and symbol in visual design, Construct animated puppet skeletons, Form an understanding of different joint and hinge styles, and experiment with simple Puppet Mechanisms.
This workshop is best when paired with or after the digital “Puppet Construction” workshop also available.
