Origins – Through Eve’s eyes

Australia’s acclaimed soprano Siobhan Stagg returns home with a deeply personal programme that reimagines stories of creation through a feminine lens. Joined by acclaimed pianist Jonathan Ware, she traces a journey from mythic beginnings to contemporary awakening. 

At the heart of the evening is Gabriel Fauré’s visionary “Chanson d’Ève“, a song cycle that retells Genesis through Eve’s wonder-filled perspective. Alongside Fauré, works by Mozart, Haydn, Sibelius and other composers weave a rich musical tapestry spanning the Classical era to the present day. 

Origins has been shaped through acclaimed performances at Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Saal and London’s Wigmore Hall. With candlelight, music boxes and displaced voices, it becomes an immersive meditation on origin stories, threading the human voice across centuries in a concert of striking intimacy and imagination.
