Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

Overview

Two rising superstars and a program of operatic hits

Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) Emerging Artist-in-Residence, Jake Lyle is becoming renowned for the versatility of his voice, which in this concert conquers everything from Mozart to musical theatre. He teams up with award-winning Australian conductor Sam Weller, who is making waves internationally.

Together, they are a musical force to be reckoned with, as alongside QSO they present a selection of iconic works. Norwegian romanticism abounds in Grieg’s Peer Gynt, featuring the rollicking “In the Hall of the Mountain King”, while Lyle wears his heart on his sleeve with the operatic magic of Gounod’s Faust.

Program

Chloe Charody – My Australia
Grieg – Peer Gynt Suite No.1
Mozart – “Non più andrai” from Figaro
Gounod – Avant de quitter ces lieux from Faust
Ravel – Pavane pour une enfante defunte
Bizet – Symphony in C – Movement I
