Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

QPAC 40

QPAC staff and friends share their stories:

What Does QPAC Mean to You?

  • QPAC is Brisbane to me. It was one of the first places I came when I arrived in Brisbane and it’s where I spend all of my time now.
    Hollie, Taringa
  • A place to learn, be challenged, be happy and be inspired!
    Archana, St Lucia
  • It’s a space for creating and sharing stories. It’s somewhere where my life intertwines with so many strangers who experience the same amount of profound explorations of the world.
    Lilly, Sunnybank Hills
  • QPAC means a place where memories are created.
    Bron, Camp Hill
  • A hub for creativity and gathering with loved ones (and an architectural icon!).
    Olivia, Wooloowin
  • It gave me my love of theatre.
    Alyx, Parkwood
  • An incredible hub of creativity, storytelling and expression. I always feel joy when I’m here.
    Ann-Maree, Redcliffe

What is Your Best QPAC Memory?

  • Marie, Rochedale South

“Taking my niece to Bangarra. We have just connected due to Stolen Generation when my Mother was taken. We found my cousin.”

  • Joshua, Bald Hills

“Opening nights, making a QPAC film, board meetings when I was 10 years old!!”

  • Brandon, New Farm

“Learning my Great Grandfather and Grandad performed at the old Cremorne Theatre, then working at its modern home within QPAC, was deeply meaningful.”

  • Gaia

“All of the artists and productions in all genres that have made us observe, consider, laugh and smile. From each production we have seen I hold a special part in my heart!”

  • Hollie, Taringa

“I went to QPAC for the first time in 2014 with my now husband, then long distance boyfriend for a date at Green Jam, we entered a photo contest and won! We now both work at QPAC and have taken our son to some of his first shows there.”

  • Michelle, Mount Gravatt East

“Waiting at stage door for Idina Menzel after her concert. I think the entire audience was there in the tunnel!!”

  • Ann-Maree, Redcliffe

“Celebrating this 40th birthday milestone here at QPAC.”

  • Marianna, Brisbane City

“My mother brought me to see West Side Story when I was little. It was magical. The memories of being together, sitting in quiet anticipation for the curtain to rise and of course I was transfixed by the performers – so vitally that I have dedicated my life and career to the arts …”

  • Visnja, Deception Bay

    “Musical SIX – best ever.”

  • Dana, Mt Gravatt

“The in-conversation with Lin-Manuel Miranda during the Hamilton season!”

QPAC’s 40th celebrations were supported by 612 ABC Radio Brisbane
