Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

See how Circa create brand-new work

Thu 13 Oct 2022

In early 2022, Circa Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz and the Circa ensemble were busy at the Company’s base in Brisbane creating On by Circa.

For the intense, moving and intimate new show, Lifschitz explores the gift of weight that lies at the heart of acrobatics. The simple act of giving and accepting another’s mass is transformed into a profound meditation about beauty, loss and trust.

To achieve this alchemy, the stage elements are reduced to their most essential: eight extraordinary acrobats, a score by Melbourne composer Jethro Woodward and striking lighting design by Paul Jackson.

Peep into the rehearsal room below, as the creatives and members of the Circa ensemble discuss the Company’s unique approach to the creative process. As Lifschitz reveals:

“For me shows are not ideas; they are essentially organic things that exist, and the whole process is very much something that is continually moving and developing and growing.”

On by Circa is presented by QPAC & Circa.
