Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both First Nations and non-First Nations peoples, towards creating a better Queensland.

QPAC and OzHarvest Partnership

At QPAC, we actively seek out partnerships that help us engage with our community and enrich people’s lives through the performing arts.

Often this means reaching our community through what’s on our stages but sometimes serendipity opens up beautiful opportunities that aren’t so obvious.

Such an opportunity arose some years ago when we fostered a friendship with food rescue organisation OzHarvest to donate surplus food from our food and beverage outlets to be given to charities that feed people in need.

In the words of our Chief Executive John Kotzas, “Any good public institution reflects the community it serves.”

In partnering with a like-minded organisation like OzHarvest, we’ve created opportunity to assist some of the more vulnerable in our community which means the world to us.

Over the years our collaboration has been dynamic, from the OzHarvest volunteer team working out of our kitchens during lockdown last year while their own facilities were unavailable, through to hosting their Cooking for a Cause workshops in our Lyrebird Restaurant kitchen more recently.

This is a healthy partnership that we value greatly as we always seek to be a community-focused organisation.
