In a daring new dance production by renowned choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, more than 300 individuals over the age of 65 audition for a chance to perform onstage at the prestigious Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris. For the eight selected, the stakes are high.
In this inspiring documentary by Valérie Müller, we watch as these remarkable individuals rise to the challenge over two transformative months of intense rehearsals, pushing their bodies to the limit and defying expectations.
With honesty and heart, La Force de l’Âge reveals how age is no barrier to creativity, sensuality, or strength. Through movement and memory, they embrace their wrinkles, reclaim their sexuality and challenge the audience’s gaze, reminding us that we are always – in every season – in our prime.

Rebecca Levingston has spent a good chunk of the last twenty years inside the studios at ABC Radio. First she was behind the scenes producing and since 2012 she’s been behind the microphone hosting her own shows. Rebecca has anchored Breakfast, Mornings, Drive, Weekends and statewide Evenings where she’s loved delving into the diverse and delicious stories of the world. Rebecca began writing opinion columns for InQld.com in 2020.

Valérie Müller

Director of La Force de l’âge (In One’s Prime)
Valérie Müller is a French filmmaker and director known for Polina, Danser sa Vie starring Juliette Binoche, La Surface de Réparation starring Marion Cotillard, and award-winning documentaries like Danser sa Peine. She frequently collaborates with choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, who will choreograph and direct her next feature film, Déchaînées.

Artistic Director, Ballet Preljocaj
French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj began studying classical ballet before turning to contemporary dance. He has created over 60 works, ranging from solo works to large productions, often collaborating with artists like Enki Bilal, Air, Jean Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaïa. His acclaimed Swan Lake arrives in Australia for the first time from 31 May as part of the 2025 QPAC International Series.

Dr Erica Rose Jeffrey believes in the power of movement connected to positive social change. A leader in arts, culture, health and wellbeing, she is the founder and a Director for Dance for Parkinson’s Australia and was instrumental in launching classes nationwide and in the Asia and Pacific region.

Zara Gomes

Director of Van Norton Li Community Health Institute at Queensland Ballet
Zara Gomes is a senior dance physiotherapist with over 25 years’ experience working with dancers in performing arts companies. She has worked with Queensland Ballet since 2011 and is now the Director of their Van Norton Li Community Health Institute. Zara continues to work across the health of elite dancers, as well as to enable health and wellbeing using dance as a tool across the community, for all ages and abilities.
