Overview

An exclusive documentary screening and conversation with Angelin Preljocaj and Valérie Müller

A celebration of resilience, vitality, and the timeless beauty of movement.

In a daring new dance production by renowned choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, more than 300 individuals over the age of 65 audition for a chance to perform onstage at the prestigious Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris. For the eight selected, the stakes are high.

In this inspiring documentary by Valérie Müller, we watch as these remarkable individuals rise to the challenge over two transformative months of intense rehearsals, pushing their bodies to the limit and defying expectations.

With honesty and heart, La Force de l’Âge reveals how age is no barrier to creativity, sensuality, or strength. Through movement and memory, they embrace their wrinkles, reclaim their sexuality and challenge the audience’s gaze, reminding us that we are always – in every season – in our prime.

Join us for this special screening, co-presented by QPAC and Alliance Française de Brisbane as part of the Ballet Preljocaj – Swan Lake season at QPAC.

Stay on after the screening, for an engaging panel discussion with Director Valérie Müller, Artistic Director of Ballet Preljocaj Angelin Preljocaj, Director of Van Norton Li Community Health Institute at Queensland Ballet Zara Gomes, Founding Teacher at Dance for Parkinson’s Australia Erica Rose Jeffrey and moderated by Rebecca Levingston. A rare chance to engage delve deeper into the creative process and the film’s powerful themes of age, art, and transformation.
