Edition One

Friday, 17 April 2020

In this first edition we revisit some of our favourites and take a look at what our friends at QSO are up to.

CRYSTAL MOONLIGHT

JADE New World Collective is an ensemble led by four outstanding Queensland musicians: Wakka Wakka man and renowned didgeridoo player David Williams, Japanese koto master Takako Haggarty Nishibori, Nepalese tabla virtuoso Dheeraj Shrestha and Australian guitarist Dr Anthony Garcia. The ensemble’s first public performance was Crystal Moonlight in the Cremorne Theatre in February 2019.

FROM OUR ARCHIVE

Optimistic Yellow
This international art project is showing how we’re similar as opposed to how we’re not, thanks to a liberal coating of a paint shade called Optimistic Yellow.

When Alice Met Andy
Just before his 78‑Storey Treehouse book hit our stage in 2018, author Andy Griffiths chatted with eight year-old Alice Raymond on silliness, spy cows and ice-skating penguins.

FROM OUR FRIENDS

Qurious Folk
In this interview series from Brisbane studio TheStoryBoxes (in collaboration with Folktale and Jimmy Patch), you'll meet a diverse range of people and learn how we can support each other. In Episode One, meet Shirley, a Canadian Red Cross volunteer.

Over the Fence
While they can’t perform live, the QSO is now online. Here’s the latest in the Orchestra Over the Fence series featuring Concertmaster Warwick Adeney and Section Principal Flute Alison Mitchell performing the Telemann Canonic Sonata No.1.
