Zorba the Greek and much more!

1 min read

Our recently presented concert, Mikis Theodorakis was a resounding success, bringing together the Queensland Greek community to celebrate the music of the revered Greek composer, most commonly known for his iconic movie score Zorba the Greek.

With the entire concert presented in Greek, the enthusiastic audience was treated to performances by celebrated artist, Dimitris Basis, one of Greece’s most acclaimed singers well known for his stirring renditions of Theodorakis’ work.

The concert atmosphere was heighted by the Greek Orchestra led by feted conductor, George Ellis and performances by guest soloist Maria Viakoulis.

In addition to thrilling the audience at QPAC, Dimitris also took the time to help raise funds for the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

The kind-hearted artist flew up from Sydney ahead of his QPAC concert to perform at a fundraising event organised by the Queensland Hellenic Charitable Trust at The Greek Club in Brisbane’s West End.

The event raised $29,000 for the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
