Seen by more than half a million people worldwide the international theatre sensation Shadowland, returns to Australia direct from the USA with their enchanting tale of illusion and dance.
Through their unique fusion of shadow theatre, illusion and dancers, audiences are mesmerised as human bodies transform themselves into faces, cars, buildings transporting the audience into the Shadowland.
Performed by internationally acclaimed dance troupe Pilobolus known for their incredible illusions, Shadowland was conceived after their appearance at the 2007 Academy Awards. It was the first show of its kind to combine shadow theatre with dance, and has since inspired many similar productions around the world.
Created in collaboration with Steven Banks (lead writer for the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants), Shadowland follows the surreal experience of a young girl’s sensational world as she comes of age; taking the audience into this universe through its funny and moving story.
Set to a rhythmic original score by musician, producer and film composer David Poe, Shadowland is a universal and intimately storytelling through the use of shadows and dance.
