From Dec 17 2021, anyone entering QPAC aged 16 years or over will need to be fully vaccinated (or medically exempt) and provide proof of their vaccination status. Unvaccinated children under 16 years are still able to attend QPAC. There is currently no end date on this vaccination requirement, however we do not anticipate that the requirement will be removed prior to the end of this season.
It’s “Time to Say Goodbye” to 2021
The Queensland Pops is thrilled to present a New Year's Eve concert for the 37th consecutive year. Maestro Patrick Pickett CSM has crafted a concert with an exotic atmosphere packed with virtuosity, colour and movement – as is the Pops tradition. We’re sure you’ll agree it’s the perfect occasion to celebrate the end of this year of upheaval and uncertainty and look forward to 2022 with optimism and joy.
The Pops lights a tantalising fuse of excitement as the countdown to January 1st begins in earnest. Joining Patrick and the fabulous musicians of the Queensland Pops Orchestra are a star cast of exceptional and gifted musicians. For NYE 2021, we are proud to welcome internationally renowned Tenor Rosario La Spina, Mezzo-Soprano Milijana Nikolic and Dramatic Soprano Elizabeth Lewis. This highly regarded trio will bring highlights of operatic music to the concerts, including excerpts from Bizet’s Carmen and everyone’s favourite O Sole Mio, with a twist. Ballroom Dancers will again gracefully swoon across the stage to Masquerade Waltz by Khachaturian.
Special guest artist Alex Raineri will play Saint Saëns Africa – Fantasie for Piano and Orchestra, Op 89.
As has become the tradition Pipe Major Bruce Grice will pipe in the New Year from the QPAC rooftop. There will be two New Year’s Eve Gala concert performances – the first at 5:30 pm and the second at 9 pm getting the audience out in time to watch the firework across the Brisbane River.
An orchestra that loves the music it plays – and the absolute joy it brings – is what makes the Queensland Pops Orchestra such a vital, integral part of the Queensland performing arts scene. Maestro Patrick Pickett and the outstanding specialist artists and dedicated players that comprise this wonderful orchestra invite you to sit back and be thrilled by another unforgettable night of colourful, superlative music performed as only the Queensland Pops Orchestra can. Come and join the Pops for a very Happy New Year 2022!
