New Year’s Eve is the night in Brisbane when we rejoice in the year gone by, and welcome in the new one! Where better to celebrate than in the Concert Hall at QPAC with the brightest star in popular entertainment, the Queensland Pops Orchestra.

Make an occasion of it – dress up, bling up, join family and friends for a wonderful concert, and embrace the start of the New Year with this glamorous and fun-filled night of the Queensland Pops Orchestras annual calendar – you’ll be floating out to the fireworks on a cloud of exhilaration!

Headlining NYE 2018 will be Eddie Muliaumaseali’i, a bass baritone. Eddie has been a professional opera singer for 26 years, during which time he has performed extensively, both nation-wide and overseas. His extraordinary bass voice will vibrate all the way down to your toes as he sings arias from Das Rheingold, Mozart’s Magic Flute and the classic Old Man River.

Brisbane born and bred clarinettist Paul Dean is regarded as one of Australia’s foremost musicians in his multiple capacities as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, composer and artistic director. Paul will play the Weber Concertino #1 and will amaze anyone who has tried to get a sound out of a liquorice stick!

Winner of the Lev Valsenko Piano Competition in 2017, Oscar Wong will play the beautiful third movement of the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto #1. Oscar began piano lessons at the age of seven and has since established himself as one of Australia’s most promising young pianists.

Young and emerging soprano Emma Kavanagh will sign the enchanting Somewhere from West Side Story and join Eddie in some memorable duets.

To round off this spectacular night of entertainment, a real treat is in store for Queensland Pops New Year’s Eve-ers in 2018: returning after a successful introduction last year, dancers from the Queensland Ballet, Dylan Lackey and Lina Kim, will join the full-complement Queensland Pops Orchestra for an unforgettable fusion of music and the most exquisite classical dance with highlights from The Nutcracker.

Black Tie package for the 9pm performance only includes an A-Reserve seat, access to the rooftop to mix with the stars. Enjoy champagne and canapés with your friends while the piper pipes in the New Year and the sky lights up with the spectacular fireworks.
