Ballet Preljocaj – Internationally acclaimed company
Visiting artists to QPAC are always encouraged to connect with our Queensland communities and there’s no better example than this masterclass opportunity. Selected artists from Ballet Preljocaj will host a masterclass for Professional, Aspiring Professional and Student dancers with a minimum ‘Advanced’ level of training and help inspire the next generation of world class dancers.
The purpose of the masterclass is to understand the creation process initiated by the choreographer, his artistic collaborators and dancers during the making of Snow White. After a contemporary dance class, participants will be led by members of the company through some structured improvisation and choreographic phrasing. They will also learn and test out some Snow White repertoire.
Ballet Preljocaj Assistant Director Youri Van den Bosch will lead the masterclass on Tuesday 6 September and Ballet Preljocaj dancer Baptiste Coissieu will lead the masterclass on Wednesday 7 September. Baptiste is one of the two company dancers performing the Prince part in Snow White and is a professional dance teacher.
Participants of the masterclass must be of minimum pre-professional standard or have at least completed a ballet examination certified as ‘Advanced’ by recognised Ballet Syllabi & Associations. Participants are to meet at QPAC Stage Door at 5pm for Tuesday 6 September 2016 or 10:30am for Wednesday 7 September 2016 and will be escorted to Studio 2 for warm up prior to the masterclass starting as per the scheduled time.
