Vocalist Madeleine Peyroux is an acclaimed performer with a dusky, lyrical style and a bent toward covering jazz and blues standards along with her own folky originals.
Bursting on to the international scene in the ’90s, Peyroux drew favourable comparisons to legendary jazz musician Billie Holiday. While her intimate sound certainly owes a debt to Holiday, Peyroux has carved out her own distinctive stylistic niche, balancing a modern pop sensibility with a respect for older vocal traditions.
In her live performances, Peyroux adds a further dimension to already powerful vocals with The New York Times writing “she emits a heady aura of places lived and music absorbed that floats around her like a ghostly multiple exposure of faces and voices from the past”.
Don’t make the mistake of missing Madeleine Peyroux in this very special concert event.
