American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer Kurt Vile returns to Australia for his debut solo tour.

Influenced by Pavement, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Tom Petty, and John Fahey, Philadelphia songwriter Kurt Vile began his musical career creating lo-fi home recordings, releasing cassettes and CD-Rs of his solo work whilst holding down a day job as a forklift operator.

After signing a record deal in 2009, he has released multiple records with his backing band – The Violators. His sixth studio album b'lieve i'm goin down ... plays like a cohesive acoustic experience. Its musicality marks Kurt’s departure from an electric guitar experience to include a range of instrumentation from the banjo, piano, lapsteel, synth and more.

Mick Turner will be opening for his friend Kurt Vile, performing his highly acclaimed solo work. He has had a dynamic and celebrated career as founding member of Dirty Three and simultaneously with hig solo project, releasing four LPs on the iconic US label Drag City (Bill Callahan, Joanna Newsom, Ty Segall) with The Australian labelling him "one of Australia's most distinctive guitarists".

Described by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth as “an old soul voice in the age of digital”, Kurt Vile will perform for one night only and is an act not to be missed.

Kurt Viles solo show was the first Sydney Festival gig to sell out. Held in a small tent, at midnight, fans knew it would be the jewel of Vile’s visit. They were right ... tonight's show ends too early. That would have been my complaint had it gone ’til dawn.” Sydney Morning Herald
