Jain Rhys is a musician and artist living on Bundjalung country in the Gold Coast. He is originally from the Nowendoc area on Anawain country. He is a multi instrumentalist, composer of original music and lead guitarist in Gold Coast band Selve.
Selve are a band of mischievous devils led by Indigenous front man and songwriter Loki Liddle. They create narrative driven music that ranges from psychedelic weirdness to good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll. The aim is to slip on the skin of whatever genre necessary in order to drive home their strange message while aiding in the decolonisation of the music industry.
They also like to get down, boogie woogie, solve crimes, make ominous phone calls from mysterious phone booths, toast marshmallows over dead religions, slide along the veins of ghosts, rain gin on diner windows, make love in voids of neon and eat 29km rolls of 35mm film so that they can paint with their tongues.

We pay our respects to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestors of this land, their spirits and their legacy. The foundations laid by these ancestors – our First Nations Peoples – gives strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, towards creating a better Queensland.
