The oldest national ballet company, Paris Opera Ballet is regarded as one of the most preeminent ballet companies in the world today.
This July and only in Queensland, audiences will enjoy the epitome of classical ballet in Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake, performed by a company at the very peak of its powers. The company will also perform a spectacular Opening Gala of classical and contemporary highlights from the Paris Opera Ballet repertoire, and to round out the 2020 Series, Paris Opera Ballet will perform Parisienne Soirée, featuring unanimously acclaimed contemporary works by William Forsythe, Jerome Robbins and Crystal Pite to showcase the company’s dancing depth and introduce a new swathe of dance superstars for their Australian debuts.

THE REPERTOIRE
OPENING GALA
The season starts in spectacular style with classical and contemporary works performed by the étoile dancers, showcasing a range of choreographers from Nureyev to Balanchine and featuring costume design by Chanel.
SWAN LAKE
Arguably the most famous ballet of all time, this profoundly moving and heartbreaking tale of impossible love with its iconic score was choreographed by the greatest male dancer of his generation, Rudolf Nureyev.
PARISIENNE SOIRÉE
An exquisite program of celebrated works by dance luminaries Forsythe, Robbins and Pite, now considered synonymous with Paris Opera Ballet, set to music by Max Richter, James Blake and Frédéric Chopin.
