Dr Chris Ferrie
Quantum Physicist at the Centre for Quantum Software and Information, University of Technology Sydney, who reserches the characterisation and control of quantum devices using machine learning. Dr Ferrie has also authored several best-selling children's books on science, with titles such as Quantum Physics for Babies and Rocket Science for Babies.
Professor Veena Sahajwalla
Australian Research Council Laureate Professor Veena Sahajwalla is revolutionising recycling science to unlock the wealth of resources embedded in the many complex wastes currently destined for landfill. As a materials scientist engineer and founding Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology at the University of New South Wales, she is producing a new generation of green materials, products and resources made entirely, or primarily, from waste.
Professor Justin Marshall
Professor Marshall leads the Sensory Neurobiology Group at the Queensland Brain Institute, University of Queensland, specialising in neuro-ecology. As an Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow, Professor Marshall is an expert in understanding the visual system of marine animals including the amazing mantis shrimp. He is also the founding director of a citizen-science project – Coral Watch – a public awareness and participation group that aims to save the reef, has worked as a scientific consultant for various documentary makers including National Geographic and BBC Blue-chip documentaries, and with Sir David Attenborough on several series including one on the recent Great Barrier Reef as chief science consultant.
