Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) officially welcomes leading law firm MinterEllison as inaugural Principal Partner of the QPAC International Series, a program that brings some of the world’s best performing arts companies exclusively to Queensland.
The principal partnership with MinterEllison will support the presentation of the QPAC International Series, commencing with the Queensland exclusive season by Britain’s flagship ballet company, The Royal Ballet in June/July 2017.
Based at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London, The Royal Ballet is one of the world’s greatest and most recognised ballet companies. The company will perform Australian premiere seasons of Woolf Works and A Winter’s Tale exclusively in Brisbane at QPAC’s Lyric Theatre from 29 June to 9 July 2017.
QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said the coalition of two organisations (QPAC and MinterEllison), that possess reputations as respective industry leaders in the Asia Pacific, underpinned this first principal partnership for the Centre’s International Series.
“MinterEllison has been an integral part of the local Queensland business community for more than 100 years, with a pre-eminent reputation in servicing industry sectors that are key to Queensland's strong economic growth.
“QPAC has showcased the best in live performance to Queenslanders for more than three decades. Since 2009, the QPAC International Series has brought national and international attention to Brisbane and further cemented its reputation as a vibrant cultural destination, with the presentation of exclusive productions by renowned companies including Paris Opera Ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet and most recently France’s Ballet Preljocaj’s sell out season of Snow White.
“Each International Series event builds year on year as a stand out performer on Australia’s major events calendar. These exclusive presentations are a win for all of Queensland; both for the opportunity to experience these outstanding international companies close to home, and the economic benefits generated, with around a third of the total audience attracted from interstate,” said Mr Kotzas.
“This principal partnership with MinterEllison will support QPAC with the considerable costs associated with bringing some of the world’s best performance companies exclusively to our state.
“In contrast to a traditional sponsorship model, QPAC’s goal is to develop partnerships where we truly collaborate with organisations resulting in exceptional outcomes for all. Included in this partnership will be opportunities for corporate hosting for MinterEllison’s partners and staff including back stage tours and the chance to engage with artists and company members,” he said.
MinterEllison's Brisbane Office Managing Partner, Trent Forno said the firm is delighted to extend their support of the arts in Queensland through this new partnership with QPAC.
“This partnership fits with our objective to offer new and more innovative ways to engage with our clients. We also believe that a partnership with the arts will open up different dialogues with our key stakeholders.
“We found QPAC offered a most compelling opportunity for partnership and believe it will be transformative for MinterEllison to include the performing arts in our corporate engagement program.
“QPAC is an integral part of the Brisbane community. The Centre is frequented by many MinterEllison partners and staff for its rich and diverse performing arts experiences from the best local, national and international performance companies. This can certainly be defined as a mutually beneficial partnership,” said Trent.
Established in Sydney in 1827, MinterEllison operates in Australia, Hong Kong, mainland China, Mongolia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom through a network of integrated offices and associated offices. MinterEllison’s Brisbane team currently comprises close to 400 people, including more than 160 legal professionals. Drawing on a strong base of experience and expertise, the firm has built a strong reputation in key industry sectors - infrastructure, energy and resources, financial services, health and aged care, and property development.
The QPAC International Series is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland, Principal Partner, MinterEllison, Major Partner, Treasury Casino & Hotel, Airline Partner, Singapore Airlines, Accommodation Partner, Mantra Group, Champagne Partner, MOET Chandon and Media Partner, JC Decaux.
