Patrons With Individual Needs

QPAC is dedicated to being welcoming, accessible and inclusive for the widest possible audience. We are committed to finding solutions to the challenges of our building and surrounds and removing barriers presented to our visitors.
QPAC provides a range of services, facilities and programs to enable visitors with special needs to attend performances and participate in programs.

With advance notice QPAC can accommodate a range of individual needs. It is strongly encouraged that patrons notify staff of any individual needs at the time of booking.

For further clarification about any of the issues below, please contact (07) 3840 7400.

Mobility difficulties

If you require assistance due to mobility difficulties please notify qtix box office staff when you book your tickets.

QPAC has a number of wheelchairs available for patron use. These are available from each designated patron drop off area listed below.

Parking and drop off

There are drop off  zones for patrons at Grey Street (for Lyric Theatre and Concert Hall), Russell Street (for Playhouse) and outside the Cremorne Theatre entrance.  See map  PDF [273 KB] for further details.

Parking for people with mobility difficulties is available in the Cultural Centre car parks.

To assist Concert Hall and Lyric Theatre patrons who have difficulty walking from Grey Street, a specific set down area is open in the QPAC basement for 90 minutes prior to and one hour after performances in the Lyric Theatre and Concert Hall.

Entry to the basement set down area is from the tunnel entrance on Grey Street. Drivers will be directed down the ramp where they will drop off their passenger/s and then proceed up the ramp on the opposite side for easy access to Cultural Centre car parks. Front of house staff will be on hand to assist patrons to their lift.

Kindly respect the needs of people with mobility difficulties and only use the basement set down area if dropping off patrons for the Concert Hall and Lyric Theatre who have difficulty walking. Please be aware that the set down area has limited capacity and we recommend you allow sufficient time for possible delays.

Wheelchair seating

Following QPAC’s recent refurbishment there are an increased number of dedicated
seating options for patrons with a disability and their guests.

To ensure the best possible experience for patrons, there are a number of specific procedures undertaken by QPAC staff when patrons book these dedicated seats. In order to obtain all necessary information, bookings for these seats can only be made with one of our Box Office staff over the phone or in person.

If you are trying to book a dedicated wheelchair seat at a time when the Box Office is not open, please call the following business day and one of our staff will be able to assist you.
Box Office is open 9am to 8:30pm Monday to Saturday.

Guide, hearing and assistance dogs

QPAC welcomes patrons accompanied by guide, hearing or assistance dogs and our staff are trained to meet the needs of support dogs and their handlers.

Please notify qtix box office staff at the time of your booking if you are visiting QPAC accompanied by your support dog.

Companion Card

QPAC is an affiliate of the Queensland Government’s Companion Card program. A Companion Card is issued to a person with a disability who has a lifelong need for attendant care support in order to participate in community activities and attend venues.

As an affiliate of the Companion Card program, QPAC provides Companion Card holders a second ticket for their chosen companion at not cost.

Access to the Companion Card program is only available when booking tickets on the phone or in person. For more information on the Companion Card program, visit the Department of Communities.
