The Bungalow

Pauline Bell aka  Eileen Surepuss
The hostess with the mostess...

Pauline Bell’s career as a producer, hostess, dancer, choreographer, singer and performer has spanned all forms of entertainment. Drawing inspiration from cocktail clubs of the 60s, in 1996 Pauline created Abigail's niteclub and it was from Abigail's that Pauline created Eileen Surepuss.

Eileen Surepuss recently appeared in Show Us Yer Bits at the Brisbane Powerhouse, a monthly talent show with a difference (the difference being the talent aspect).

Pacific Princess Dancers

Those darlings of dance, the Pacific Princess Dancers will bring their inimitable style of performance to The Bungalow. The Pacific Princess Dancers have established a reputation for providing entertainment drawing on eclectic array of muses...Busby Berkley, Tony Bartuccio, Solid Gold and a smattering of Young Talent Time.

Adaptable and gorgeous, the girls Rosalie Fiveways, Twottie Goldsmith and Plastique Bag will perform specially devised routines including Beach Ball handling skills, a fluffy feather dance to Love Boat and a precision reclining on banana lounges as only the girls know how!

As well as displaying their slick dance moves the girls will be assisting Eileen Surepuss with a host of activities planned for The Bungalow. It wouldn’t be a Bungalow without a Limbo competition! Don’t forget your bathers and scoops - the girls will have packed theirs!

DJ Murray Brown

Murray’s first taste of the music industry was putting CDs on shelves of his parents music stores during school holidays. His first club residency was at Monastery in 2001. In 2002 Murray Brown was slotted in as regular guest DJ and tour DJ for the popular Wild Nights radio program.

Murray has also spun the decks at The Gatecrasher Summer Sound System Tour, Ocean Dance and Splendour In The Grass festivals. In August Murray was named the No.1 Queensland DJ in Inthemix/Technics Top 50 DJ's in Australia.

Vocal Billboarding

This project has been inspired by music that provides elements of optimism and escapism within our lives. Vocal Billboarding is an interactive DIY shirt-making experience that promotes individual expression and clothing as an alternative tool for social comment.

Initial contributions have come from local fashion designers Lucid, two high school students, and four university students from different faculties including design and health. These key people were asked to provide a personal reflection on how they use/interpret music, which could be reflected through a feeling, protest or simply lyrics -the outcome being a slogan printed on a t-shirt.

In the Bungalow audience members can create and watch the manufacture of their very own t-shirt!

Project managers Lisa Lerkenfeldt, Tim Gamble and Anna McIntosh are part of the first wave of graduates from Queensland’s first university based (BA) fashion design course at the newly created Creative Industries faculty at QUT. Lisa, Tim and Anna have all exhibited at the RAQ or Australian Fashion Design Awards.
