German singing sensation Ute Lemper returns to Brisbane for a special one night show in the Concert Hall.
Ute Lemper, the star of stage (Cats, Cabaret, Blue Angel, Chicago), film (L'Autrichienne, Prospero's Books, Moscow Parade, Pret a Porter), and symphony concerts ("Songs from Kurt Weill", "Songbook", Songs from Piaf and Dietrich") is also a hugely successful recording and solo concert artist and the unrivalled interpreter of Berlin cabaret songs, French chansons, and the works of Kurt Weill.
Ute's success is worldwide, and she has been nominated for many prestigious awards including the Molière award for best actress, Billboard Magazine's Crossover Artist of the Year for 1993-1994. For her role as Velma in Kander & Ebb's Chicago she received the 1998 Olivier Award, and after nine months in London's West End took the role to Broadway for her sensational New York debut.
Her new show Angels over Berlin was premiered at the National Theatre of Chaillot (Paris). It takes the audience on a journey through cities that Ute feels closely connected to, including Berlin with songs by Kurt Weill and Bertold Brecht, a Yiddish song cycle, and French poetry by Jacques Brel and Léo Ferré.
