LOVE BETRAYAL FORGIVENESSWith the Camerata of St John’s, conducted by Andrew Mogrelia*
Beautiful and haunting, Giselle is a luminous masterpiece of Romantic ballet.
Produced and staged by Ai-Gul Gaisina, Queensland Ballet’s traditional production of Giselle is a heart-rending tale of love, remorse and forgiveness. Requiring exceptional technical and dramatic skills, Giselle offers breathtaking, graceful dance, but ultimately it is the emotional depth of this exquisite work that will touch your heart.
Her heart broken and her reason shattered, the innocent village girl Giselle succumbs to untimely death. Deep in the moonlit forest, she emerges in the twilight spirit world of the vengeful Wilis. When her repentant lover Albrecht visits her grave, only Giselle’s undying love and devotion can sustain him through the Wilis’ irresistible, deathly dance.
