The power of love ... and a little magic potion. A true romantic comedy, The Elixir of Love tells of the plight of peasant Nemorino and his infatuation with the beautiful and wealthy landowner Adina, who only has eyes for Sergeant Belcore ... until Dr Dulcamara and his love potion offer a solution.
This popular and patriotic production by Simon Phillips, set in the Australian outback with all its colour and vibrancy, is the perfect complement to Donizetti's intoxicating score which contains some of the most wonderful melodies in opera.
One of Australia's most accomplished and popular sopranos, Natalie Jones, will perform the role of Adina, with Virgilio Marino as the lovestruck Nemorino, joined by José Carbó as Sergeant Belcore and Andrew Collis* as Dr Dulcamara.
With the Opera Queensland Chorus and The Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Sung in Italian with projected English translations.
