GREAT $60* SEATS RELEASED FOR 5 JUNE PERFORMANCE.

Deep in the forest the fairies are stirring. As Benjamin Britten's spellbindingly beautiful score slips seductively over the audience, discover a place where Indian gods, British colonials and rustic clowns collide, collude and sometimes fall in love. A Midsummer Night's Dream is here. Before there was ROMEO + JULIET, this was the production that showed the world the boundless imaginations of director Baz Luhrmann and designer Catherine Martin. Inspired by the words of Shakespeare and Britten's magical score, they dreamt up a colour-drenched realm of midsummer magic, and in doing so, created one of Opera Australia's most celebrated productions, ever.

Paul Kildea
will conduct a collection of outstanding singers who will guide you through the enchanted forest. Tobias Cole and Lorina Gore play the King and Queen of the Fairies, while Tyler Coppin and Conal Coad reprise their unforgettable performances of Puck and Bottom.

Reviews for Opera Australia - A Midsummer Night's Dream

"Baz Luhrmann's production of Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream is widely and rightly regarded as one of Opera Australia's finest recent artistic achievements." The Sydney Morning Herald

"Durkin's capacity to pluck notes with coloured clarity and precision from any space in her vocal range makes for an expertly crafted vocal performance, while Cole's countertenor is fluidly supple, as though painted in gentler pastels."

"Tyler Coppin is excellently fey as Puck." The Sydney Morning Herald

"Set in India in 1923, Luhrmann's version of Benjamin Britten's opera is a riot of colour and movement." The Sunday Telegraph

"Conal Coad is hilarious as Bottom."

"Tobias Cole is majestic as Oberon, the fairy king."

"Fizzing with enough energy to rival a Bollywood romance."

"...thoroughly enchanting." The Sun Herald
