Legendary UK comic John Cleese - star of Monty Python and Fawlty Towers - is bringing his one man show An Evening With John Cleese to the QPAC Concert Hall.

Cleese is loved the world over for his comedic antics in cult films such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, The Life of Brian and the ever memorable television series Fawlty Towers.  In 1998 he won a British Academy Award for Best Actor in A Fish Called Wanda which also starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline.  He also appeared in the James Bond films The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day.

Few comedy troupes have reached the same fame of Monty Python, and a large part of that success was due to John Cleese and his impeccable timing and sense of humour.

Cleese describes his one man show as "an evening of well honed anecdotes, psychoanalytical tit-bits, and unprovoked attacks on former colleagues, especially Michael Palin."

Cleese has mastered everything from dry wit to slapstick humour, making his type of humour one that everyone can enjoy.  He is the master comedian and admired and respected by everyone.  Don't miss this legendary comedian.

Informal chat was boring and scripted. Bitterly disappointed to see him reading his lines!! I expected to have a sore face from laughing huh two laughs does not constitute a comedy show. Boring. To think I paid are fares as well. He should retire now!

Very disappointing. The opening starts with it being explained he paid his wife 17 Million for alimony & still owes her more - to be paid off over the next four years. We felt that is the only reason he was on stage. The main comedy came from clips from old shows.

A scripted performance - and it was obvious he had done the same "spontaneous chat" many, many times. Love all John Cleese comedy however we were very disappointed with this. Did he do the tour because he had to or because he wanted to? It was pretty obvious.

Great to see one of my comedy heroes in the flesh. An enjoyable evening, but felt the second half was a little short. Would have been good to have been able to ask questions from the audience.

Loved the event. Was fantastic to hear the history of John life and the reasons or madness behind his acting career.

All those hoping for a riotous evening of Pythonesque humour will be sorely dissapointed. The evening consisted of an aging comedy writer taking you down a memory lane of his upbringing with some midly amusing tales from the past with some short clips from those times. As he says he is a script-writer first and a performer a sad second.

Whilst it was interesting to hear about John's journey in the entertainment industry, I felt the performance was lacklustre. We paid a lot of money for the tickets and expected to be entertained by a funny man, but instead it felt more like a documentary of his life and that he was simply going through the motions. It is disappointing when celebs come back on the concert trail just to pay the bills and give a second rate performance to their loyal fans.
