An evening of French cabaret.
One of Australia's most recognised and respected artists, John Waters performs the songs of the great chanson singer-songwriter Jacques Brel in their original French.
Inspired by Brel's songbook since his teens, Waters began performing these incredible songs in late night shows in Sydney's Kings Cross in the early 1970s. His continued admiration for Brel's works evolved into the critically acclaimed tribute show Café Brel in 1999.
Now in this brand new incarnation, simply titled Brel, Waters revives the story-teller to share the rich dimensions of the songs and entice you into the world of Jacques Brel -- sometimes comic, sometimes tragic, sometimes painfully romantic but always engrossing and compelling.
