Venture into the great outdoors to hear some FREE live tunes and enjoy some Aussie style hospitality at our Australia Day Barbie on the Green.

Sit back and relax under the old gumtrees* or cut a rug with your mates as you enjoy a jam-packed arvo of FREE live music performed by our local home grown talent.

While you’re at it, why not grab a classic snag on bread from the barbie and share around a stubby or two of ice cold beer? Or, for those Aussies with more gourmet taste buds, our QPAC Chef will be whipping up some alternative tantalizing delicacies.

All in all, you’ll fair dinkum have a ripper ‘straya day at our Barbie on the Green! If you miss out, you’re a big galah!

Make a day of it and enjoy all the activities on offer at South Bank. More information is available at the official Australia Day website.

South Bank Parklands will be the site of Australia Day Celebrations on Sunday 26 January. Large crowds are expected and may affect traffic, access and parking around QPAC. Click here for local traffic updates.

Cody Butler
Cody Butler
This young musician from Byron Bay invites you to listen, observe and then get lost with her, if only for a little while.

Combining soothing pop and folk elements with her voice and guitar, Cody Butler certainly knows her craft and performs with the passion (but not the accent) of a young Billy Bragg. Delivering songs that are honest and relatable, she quickly persuades you to lose yourself in her stories that are sewn in to creative, yet humble and sincere words and melodies.

hussy hicksHussy Hicks
A swirling blend of dreamy country twang and soulful blues influences, Hussy Hicks has a sound all of its own.

Fearlessly independent, the genre defying Hussy Hicks have followed a trail of possibilities, random twists and turns and discovered a musical world all of their own. Their influences are drawn from family record collections of old skool blues and country, and from their travels, combining a distinctly Australian roots edge with European gypsy guitar, arabic rhythms and optimistic social commentaries. The Hussies have been welcomed with honorary memberships into blues, folk, country and jazz circles, spreading their good vibes across festival stages and venues throughout Europe, America and Australia, with the single goal of playing music for the absolute joy of it.

Bambini
BAMBINI

Electrifying energy and boppy hooks will have you dancing and singing along like nobody's watching!

The energetic four-piece creates hook heavy, stereo blaring, can't get rid of it music with a smile, a handshake and a 'Thanks very much, it's my shout at the bar' attitude. Bambini makes music. Pure and simple. Unadulterated and unforgiving. Their mantra and hard work has been paying off with the release of their new single and music video for "Tough Night Out in the City" winning them "Best Music Video from QLD" at the Australian Independent Music Video Awards in December 2013.

Fresh on the scene, Jackson creates instantly relatable songs for people to cherish and connect with.

Through his guitar and vocal melodies, Jackson is creating his own brand of blues-influenced music with a desire to convey personal experiences and thoughts. His songs relay his thoughts on life and the situations experienced during emotional extremes. By conveying the lowest lows and the highest highs, heartache and elation, Jackson and his band aim to create instantly relatable songs for his audience to cherish and connect with. His dual blend of creative lyricism and musical expertise is akin to modern performers like Matt Corby and John Mayer. Listen out for his Debut EP coming soon!
