Applauding 25 Years

John Kotzas

Queenslanders have been applauding world-class performances at QPAC since 1985, and the tradition will continue in 2010 as we celebrate 25 years of extraordinary theatre, music, dance and family entertainment.

Over the years, more than 14 million tickets have been sold to events at QPAC and hundreds of thousands of people have participated in free performances, workshops and outdoor events. With over 20,000 performances having taken place in this time, QPAC has hosted artists from all over the world.  In addition, QPAC has enjoyed great success as a theatrical producer in its own right.

From free events in the public spaces to investing in major musicals to ensure they tour to Brisbane; from community arts workshops to presentations to schools in regional Queensland; from signature programs to showcasing leading national and international companies, we want to ensure all visitors get the very best out of their QPAC experience.

Act 1 of 2010 (January to June) features QPAC's Out of the Box festival for children, exciting shows from our State and local companies, concerts by acclaimed international artists, a stellar line up of stars and Australian Premieres of quirky comedy Calendar Girls and Graeme Murphy's new work for the Australian Ballet, The Silver Rose.

Our popular free entertainment program recommences in February with the Green Jam Sessions offering Friday afternoon jazz on the Melbourne Street Green and a brand new event - Melting Pot, a program of free world music in the Cascade Court and Melbourne Street Green.

There's a lot more in store over the coming months, so stay tuned. I look forward to welcoming you soon to QPAC.
