Swing on by every Friday at dusk for Green Jam Sessions; a free evening of smooth jazz, chilled beverages and great company held at QPAC’s Melbourne Street Green.

Unwind to cool tunes played by the multi-talented musicians from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University as they showcase their impressive skills with a repertoire of jazz standards, contemporary grooves and laid back funk.

Green Jam Sessions, presented by QPAC and supported by Major Partner Heritage Bank, is the perfect way to wrap up the working week and start the weekend wind down with colleagues, friends and family.

As we are a fully licensed venue you're welcome to purchase food or drinks whilst enjoying the ambience. BYO food or alcohol is not permitted.

  Eddie Gazani Trio
From the heartland of sunshine and samba: Brazilian singer and guitarist Eddie Gazani will dazzle and captivate you with his unique blend of Brazilian Jazz, Forro, Samba & Bossa Nova. Music from the heart, to your soul! Eddie draws inspiration from his immense love of music, travel, culture and life itself, which resonates effortlessly as he performs with the true spirit of Brazilian passion and vitality!

Euan Cumming Quartet
This band is just some good friends having a jam. The guys have spent the last few years studying at the Queensland Conservatorium and will be letting off some steam from the pressure of exams by playing some jazz, funk and whatever else happens on the night. It'll be spontaneous, exciting, chilled and fun all at the same time. Featuring Euan Cumming (keyboard), Sam Maguire (bass), Dan Hirsch (drums), Matt Luff (sax) and Brodie McAllister (trombone).

Tamara O'Callaghan
Tamara O'Callaghan is an accomplished singer, performer and musician based in Brisbane. She has just recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Jazz Vocal from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. As a singer, Tamara has forged a career that is already established at corporate functions, private functions and public outdoor events. She has been featured at many venues including the Brisbane Jazz Club, the Brisbane and Gold Coast Convention Centers, Queen St Mall and just recently was a featured performer at the 2013 Broadbeach Jazz Festival.Tamara works as the vocalist in Rojo with Guitarist Leo McFadden and Bassist Dushan Walkowicz. Since 2012 together the group have worked on many new tunes and arrangements to play a myriad of Jazz and lounge styles such as Blues, Ballad, Latin and of course Swing. As she considers herself a three dimensional singer, Tamara also likes to incorporate elements of many other contemporary styles such as Pop and Theatre to shake things up and create her own unique and contemporary sound.

  Laura Mulcahy
Laura Mulcahy has recently finished her studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, where she majored in Jazz Voice. After years of performing in Brisbane and its surrounds, Laura has teamed up with Luke Patrick on guitar, Aidan Arnold on bass and Linus Monsour on drums as Reel to Real. The band perform styles from jazz to pop, funk and soul in private, public and corporate gigs around Brisbane. Laura has also teamed up with Luke, Aidan and Linus, along with Shaun Pryor on keys, to bring her original music to life. Laura recently appeared on ABC radio with Tom Cromwell to promote Green Jam sessions - check out the ABC interview.

  Lachlan Hawkins Quartet
Recipient of the 2012 SJ Bromley Jazz Award, Lachlan Hawkins is a drummer, percussionist and composer currently completing his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Drums (Advanced Performance) at the Queensland Conservatorium. A member of the Conservatorium's flagship jazz orchestra Con Artists, Lachlan has also extensively performed around Australia and beyond in a variety of settings, ranging from jazz trios to corporate bands, vocal ensembles and symphony orchestras. For this event, Lachlan is thrilled to be supported by the amazing talent of Kelsey Giarola (voice), James Ball (piano) and Matt Cook (bass), all of whom are either current students or recent graduates of the Queensland Conservatorium. Expect to hear an exciting night of jazz standards, musical theatre, pop and Brazilian music - from Stevie Wonder to Kurt Elling, Jeff Hamilton, Ellis Marsalis, Antonio Carlos Jobim and others.

RedShift is a contemporary jazz/fusion band, playing both original compositions and jazz covers. Initially formed by Ravi Welsh (guitar) in late 2012, the group has since continued to develop a unique sound, influenced by jazz infused artists such as The Yellowjackets, Steps Ahead, Pat Metheny Group and Mike Stern. Sophie Min (pianist), adds her own style to the group through her broad range of original compositions which are known to use odd time signatures, synths and unusual instruments such as the melodica. Helen Svoboda (bass) and Rebecca Meimaris (drums) make up a tight rhythm section, adding to the band’s signature sound. The group is constantly expanding their repertoire and exploring contemporary sounds and arrangements to develop their own unique style. Check out their Facebook.

  Riff Raff
Riff Raff Vibrant and mellow, timeless and contemporary, RiffRaff entertain with class and pizzazz. Equally at home in a function space for weddings and corporate events, serenading patrons in a dining setting, or establishing atmosphere at private parties - this dynamic duo read and suit their delivery relative to the audience, all the while maintaining the flair of elegance which is their signature. Seasoned performers Jason Collins and Raphael Lindquist deliver a boutique performance of the classic and the modern, jazz and pop. Their manner is ever elegant and artful - reinterpreting nostalgia with a modern flavor and weaving their signature sound through contemporary hits. Whether to simply set a mood, or provide a performance spectacle, RiffRaff has the scope and experience to offer services austere and courtly or just plain fun!
